My cat was mixed up at his neuter appointment, what should I do?

My cat's ear was chopped now one is flat no tip/point. The other is pointed and perfectly normal. They said the girl who checked him in put him with the strays and that they chipped the ear to prevent future mix ups of previously fixed animals. But what about this mix up? My cat was wearing a red collar with rhinestones and a bell, I'm sure strays don't wear those. Anyway, should I do something about this? Who would I contact? Please help!
I am not a fan of suing either and I know a missing tip wont cause any harm tobhim but he is permantly disfigured. I did not take him to my normal vet, I took him to an animal hospital where they only perform surgery. My concern is future mix ups, like others have mentioned. This could lead to serious problems and animals could be mistakenly euthanized. I love animals and I do not want someone else to lose a pet over careless people! They have already refunded my money.
