how do i dye my couch?

I love my couches but they are very light and i have four kids and a dog. They are embarassingly faded, worn and just dirty looking even though i have completely stripped it to wash. i just dont know if it will color evenly in my washer. Or is there a place i can take it? I have to do something. But i dont want to get rid of them, they arent old by any means. It is a khaki denim and i have an americana theme in my living room, so i was thinking a dark blue. i dont know anything about where to begin.

I have slipcovers that are denim and children too, so I can relate.

If the covers of everything are washable- just try some Rit dye. The liquid is more expensive but better than the powder.

My view here would be "What the hell!" If it looks bad now, if the dye job doesn't look right to you, you'll get a slipcover anyway. Might as well try a few dollars on dye first.

Edited to add- they make slipcovers now that have a separate one for the cushions. I would go with that option if you get any, mine have to be retucked constantly and look like an unmade bed most of the time.
